Trivia

The Show

  • While largely identical to the original, there are some notable changes to some of the characters:
  • Franklin is analogous to Mr Rumbold, but in addition to a different name is related here to the store owner Mr Beane who is otherwise similar to Young Mr Grace.
  • Miss Brahms is the new hire (as opposed to Mr Lucas at the start of the original) and is more ditzy.
  • Mr Johnson is analogous to Mr Mash and/or Mr Harman (although he is less abrasive than the former).
  • Miss Brahms is the only character aside from Franklin whose first name is revealed and shares it with that of the original series' Miss Brahms. It remains in question if the other characters share the same names as the original.
  • Guest star Don Bexley also had a recurring role in Sanford and Son, another (and substantially more successful) remake of a UK show.
