Chobits is a seinen (young men's) anime program based on a popular manga published from 2001 to 2002 by Kodansha. The series is a blending of goofy humor interspaced with philosophical meanderings on interpersonal relationships and what it means to be human.

The series takes place in a future where personal computers look like people and have become an integral part of everyday life. Hideki Motosuwa would love to have a "persocom" of his very own, if he could afford one. It seems an incredible stroke of luck when he finds one in a trash pile. But after taking her home and activating her, he discovers "Chi" has no memory, no operating system, and a lot of people after her secrets. As Hideki teaches Chi about the world and uncovers her mysteries, he also has to deal with the complex personal lives of the people around him - which may be an even tougher challenge to handle.
