Plot Overview
After his daughter's killer is acquitted, a grieving father shoots the two lawyers, one of them a law school friend of Annabeth's, the other her friend and frequent courtroom opponent Doug Hellman. The shooter's lawyer insists that the accused killer's acquittal is paramount to his defense and asks for the prosecution's work product, which exposes behind-the-scenes drama in that case, including the prosecutor's failure to call a witness whose testimony would have gotten the killer convicted, and also a romantic relationship between the prosecutor and Annabeth's friend, who died from her wounds. A subsequent investigation allows the team to arrest the acquitted killer for a different murder, and allows Annabeth to make a plea deal with her friend's killer.
