Plot Overview
A salesman is shot to death while leaving work, and the man whose job he took is arrested for the crime. Certain that the suspect and his two sons acted together to commit the crime, Annabeth seeks to have them tried as a gang, but when their wily lawyer gets that shot down, she decides on the risky move to have each man tried individually to get to the truth. Maureen is certain that Annabeth identifies too closely with the dead man's widow, as she is now a single mom like Annabeth and under the same circumstances. Maureen also tells Annabeth that the drunk driver who killed Jack is appealing his sentence, and she will be handling the prosecution and keeping Annabeth in the loop.
