Plot Overview
A real piece of work--a prison escapee who killed a guard during the escape and took a prison librarian hostage--is arrested after robbing a jewelry store. Annabeth knows him all too well, as she put him away in the previous case, and she's sure that he killed the hostage as well. but it's soon discovered that he had a girlfriend who looks like the missing librarian, but with blonde hair instead of brunette. They find her chained up in the basement of a house, and she insists that she went along with him because he'd kill her family if she didn't. She seems to display all the classic symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome, yet Annabeth and Maureen suspect that she's acting and was a very willing accomplice, not only in the escape, but in a couple of recent armed robberies, and may possibly be the guard's killer.
