Plot Overview
A hearing is set in Washington to determine whether government is colluding with organized crime, and among the participants are Torello and the Task Force and Luca and his cohorts. Those testifying include Torello, who testifies about various acts of violence committed by Luca; Jorge Santerro, who insists that he never met Luca and that Torello and the team beat him to get him to testify, even removing his shirt to show his wounds (to the anger of Torello and the amusement of Luca); Pauli Taglia, who relates that Torello 'used his head for a softball'; Attorney David Abrams, who relates information about Torello's history with Luca and also delivers damaging information that disqualifies one of the Senators on the panel; Lt. Colonel Milton Dance, who tells just what the relationship is between Luca and the government; Walter Clemmons, who speaks in favor of Torello, as does the next witness, Joey Indelli; and Ray Luca, who's as flip as usual. Torello and Krychek get Dance alone and persuade him to testify again, giving a more 'accurate' testimony about Luca. The hearing is abruptly cut short due to a military emergency in Vietnam, and everyone exits the courtroom, including Luca and Pauli, who wind up with Santerro on a plane to Mexico.
