Based on a mixture of historical places, persons and events of Deadwood, South Dakota, as well as fictional ones invented for the show, Deadwood follows the corruption and intrigue in a new and lawless gold-mining camp. Real-life characters include Wild Bill Hickock, "Calamity" Jane Cannery, Seth Bullock, and Al Swearengen. Other than mining, the town's business is sin: drinking, gambling, drugs, prostitution, murder, and corruption of every stripe.
Deadwood... a hell of a place to make your fortune.
