Plot Overview
Hearst attempts to appease Al by offering him the men who killed the squarehead in his bar the previous day. Al, sufficiently placated, declares the elections back on. Mrs. Ellsworth undergoes surgery to help her miscarriage along. Jane speaks to the children about her days with "Armstrong" Custer.
Notes
- This episode takes its name from the drunken ramblings of a random hoople-head at the start of the episode, who tumbles off the new podium in the night and breaks his neck. The sentiment applies directly to Mr. George Hearst as well.
- There are discrepancies regarding the title. HBO's website lists the title as "I Am Not the Man You Take Me For".
Arc Advancement
Happenings
- Sol buys the house Adams and, secretly, Al, have been trying to sell him.
- After Hearst invites Al to view the speeches on his new veranda, Captain Turner takes Al by surprise with a pistol to the back of the head. Hearst declares Al will "bend to my will", and chops off one of his fingers with a pick axe.
- Andy comes to visit Cy, and begs his forgiveness for the stabbing. Cy threatens him with crazy religious talk and waves a gun around.
Characters
- Seth and Martha Bullock continue to show a greater affection for one another.
