The Eleventh Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor on Doctor Who, portrayed by Matt Smith.

Basic Information

The Eleventh Doctor maintains the traits of past incarnations, yet he seems quite daffy (some even say he resembles the meme figure "Trollface"). He comes into the life of Amy Pond, a little girl to whom he returns--after she's grown up. After a sad departure of Amy with her groom Rory, the Doctor comes across Oswin, a girl who would later become Clara Oswald. She was splintered through time, explained away as what happened after she entered the Doctor's time stream to save him from the Great Intelligence.

Character History

The eleventh Doctor joins the War Doctor and his previous incarnation in "The Day of the Doctor", where the three Doctors team up to save Gallifrey in the Great Time War. His own regeneration comes in the Christmas special "The Time of the Doctor," where he spends his waning days defending a town called Christmas. He is given a whole new regeneration cycle from the Time Lords to defeat the Daleks and regenerate into Doctor #12.

We learn that the Doctor's actual name, while never disclosed, is waved off as "The Doctor," the name he chose. It was the name he chose as he comes to make better what isn't.
