Downton Abbey is a period drama that aired on ITV. The series is set in the country estate of Downton Abbey and follows depicts the lives of the Crawley family and the estate's staff in the early 1900s.

In the United States the show airs on PBS' block Masterpiece Classic, and it has brought in record ratings for both ITV and PBS, as well as receiving both Golden Globe and Emmy Awards for Outstanding Miniseries. As of the third season, it competes in the drama category on television award programs.
