Plot Overview
Peter and his friends go to a Barry Manilow concert, where Peter's wallet falls out of his pants. A mystery culprit finds it before Peter realizes it is missing, and uses his credit cards and social security number to steal his identity. The culprit later identifies himself - he is James Woods, and he is hellbent on revenge after he was on the losing end of an earlier run-in with Peter (he had gotten locked in a crate inside a government warehouse).
James is able to obtain a fraudulent identification card and literally becomes Peter Griffin. He tries to establish himself as Peter Griffin and assert himself as head of the Griffin household. When Lois calls the police to have have James arrested, he convinces Joe that he is "Peter" and has the real Peter escorted from his home. Brian meets the real Peter at a hotel and the two plot their revenge ... by stealing James' identity in return.
Computer and fake ID card expert Stewie inserts Peter's picture on an identification card, the first step in the Griffins' plan. Peter is able to convince others that he is James Woods, adding in a few rude comments for good measure. Later, Peter-as-James appals the audience when he announces he is staring in a slapstick depiction of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
James has enough and wants to settle the score once and for all. However, Peter and Brian finally foil James once and for all by setting up a trap box baited with Reese's Pieces. James falls for the trap and is locked in another crate, awaiting arrest by the authorities. Peter's identity is restored and he is reunited with his family.

- E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial - The climatic scene (a trap baited with Reese's Pieces candy) is taken from the 1982 movie.
- G.I. Joe - Peter and his friends watch a spoof of the 1980s cartoon called "G.I. Jose," with Mexicans and/or Hispanics in the key roles. The ending public service announcement (where one of the characters gives a safety or moral tip to youths) is seen.
- Postal - The scene Peter-as-James describes in his "new" 9/11-based dark comedy film is inspired by a scene in the 2007 movie.
