Season Six of Family Guy premiered on September 23, 2007. The season debuted with an hour long Star Wars parody episode, with the characters from the show taking up the roles of a retold version of A New Hope.
Due to the WGA strike initiated in November, the remainder of the sixth season was initially delayed indefinitely. The last episode produced before the strike was Lois Kills Stewie and series creator Seth MacFarlane has stated that he would not work on the series throughout the duration of the strike. Not only will he not breach the terms of the strike by writing any episodes or jokes, but he won't break the picket line by doing voices for any episodes that are near completion.
After MacFarlane publicly refused to continue production on the three nearly complete episodes, FOX executives decided to complete the episodes without his blessing. He previously warned the network that there would be repercussions if they went on with production without him and later commented in Variety that "it would just be a colossal dick move if they did that." Despite his hopes that they would not air the newly finished episodes all three have been aired and FOX plans on airing a fourth episode that was much further away from completion before MacFarlane left.
