Allusions and References

  • Kobe Bryant — A cutaway gag has two police detectives interrogating the NBA basketball star for an attempted sexual assault, recalling Bryant being charged in real-life after a hotel employee accused him of rape during their encounter.
  • Deliverance — Flatulence humor is used in a bathroom-scene gag involving Peter and movie director/poltical activist Michael Moore mimicking the instrumental "Dueling Banjos" by Eric Weissburg and Steve Mandell, a huge country and pop hit in 1973.
  • Gilligan's Island — The scenario of the 1960s situation comedy starring Bob Denver (a large boat with several people aboard is caught in a storm at sea, and then washed argound on a deserted island) served as a major chunk of the plot of this episode.
  • Gilmore Girls — Brian and Lois watch the TV show, an in-joke; Family Guy producer Daniel Palladino is married to Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.
  • Hefty — While lecturing Meg about protecting herself during a sexual encounter, Peter compares a trash bag to a condom, using the trash bag and storage product manufacturer's advertising slogan ("Hefty, Hefty, Hefty! Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy!”) to make his point.
