Plot Overview
Edward and Alphonse arrive in Central and are sent to live with Shou Tucker and his family. Tucker is a state alchemist who created a speaking chimera two years before, but has not been able to repeat his success since, endangering his position with the military. Ed and Al prepare for the certification exam that will make them state alchemists, but in the midst of taking the exam Col. Mustang talks Al out of proceeding further in order to protect his secret (the fact that he is a only a soul attached to a suit of armor). Ed manages to save one of the other candidates during the practical part of the exam, impressing even the Führer himself and passing with flying colors.
