Overview
Unlike most shows, which air episodes in the order (or almost in the order) that they are produced, the order in which episodes were broadcast originally on Fox in the United States differs radically from the order in which they were created (syndicators in other parts of the world usually broadcast Futurama in the original production order). The DVD releases of Futurama follow the original production order, not the original broadcast order. As a result, Volume 1 collects all of the first US broadcast seaason and the first four episodes of the second US broadcast season.

Alterations
- In Space Pilot 3000, an alien gets into a cab and asks to be driven to "Radio City Mutant Hall." In the original broadcast, the alien asked to be driven to "JFK Jr. Airport" but it was changed in order to be politically correct, as JFK Jr. had died during animation of the episode of a plane crash.
