Plot Overview
After jumping through Taylor Doose's hopps, Lorelai begins renovating the Dragonfly. Another new start: Dean gets married, despite his boozy, post-bachelor-party confession to Luke that he still cares for Rory.
Rory arrives home in Stars Hollow late at night. When she opens the door the alarm goes off. Lorelai tells Rory that Kirk snuck into the house to install the alarm now that Lorelai is living alone. There is a new mail carrier in town who delivers everyone's mail to the wrong house.
There are people setting up for Dean and Lindsay's wedding in the center of town, which surprises Rory.
Lane, Zack and Brian and meeting trying to figure out how to find a new guitarist. Dave left to go to college over the summer.
Lorelai receives a notice from the town's historical preservation society, which Taylor is the head of, letting her know she can't begin construction on her inn until the changes have been approved. She talks to Taylor who agrees to let her make a presentation at the next town meeting so work can begin on schedule on Monday. After the town meeting he tells her the Historical Society has to do a walk through.
Late that night, Dean and his friends stumble into Luke's diner as part of Dean's bachelor party. While drunk, Dean begins to talk about Rory. Luke sends Dean's friends away and takes Dean upstairs to sleep it off. Still drunk, Dean laments Rory leaving him.
At 6:00am, during the walk through by the Historical Preservation Society, Taylor identifies the 20 year old rotting porch as historical, or at least it will be in the future, so it can't be changed and the guests can't walk on it. When Lorelai confronts Taylor, he tells her he wants to have an icecream truck parked in front of Luke's diner and he needs her to convince Luke to let him.
Luke searches town for Lorelai but he can only find Rory. He tells her she shouldn't go to the wedding, but he won't tell her why.
