Come On is the twenty-second episode and also the season finale of the first season of How I Met Your Mother.

Plot Overview

Hoping to get closer to Robin, Ted tries to prevent her from going away for the weekend with her co-anchor, Sandy. Meanwhile, Marshall is upset when he finds out about Lily's fellowship interview.


Arc Advancement


  • The Wedding: The Wedding has been called off, Marshall and Lily broke up over the art fellowship interview from the previous episode.


  • Robin: Robin was promoted to lead anchor after Sandy Rivers announced that he would be leaving the local news to persue a job at CNN.
  • Lily and Marshall: Lily's application for the art fellowship in San Francisco was accepted. Although in the previous episode she insisted that she wasn't going to go, she decided that this is something she must do. As a result, she and Marshall got into a big fight the ended with them breaking up and calling off the marriage.
  • Ted and Robin: Ted and Robin finally get together after 22 episodes of indecision. However, Future Ted says that this is how he ended up with Robin, and doesn't specifically note her as the mother from the show's title.


  • 1x01 - Pilot: Ted and Robin conspired to steal the blue french horn on the wall of a restaurant they were at. Ted eventually went through with it and the horn is now on Robin's mantle.
