Biography
Myers was born in Scarborough, Ontario on May 25, 1963, to his English-born parents, insurance agent Eric Myers and Royal Air Force veteran and office supervisor Alice E. Hind. Both of his parents were from Liverpool and he has two older brothers, indie rock singer-songwriter Paul Myers and Peter, who works at a Sears store in Canada.
Myers' career started at age 2, when he began performing in commercials. When he was 10, he made a commercial for British Columbia Hydro Electric, with Gilda Radner playing his mother. A few months later, Myers stated that his brother was teasing him about his "girlfriend being on some stupid show on Saturday." He swore that one day he would be on that show, which was the then-fledgling Saturday Night Live. When Myers was 12, he made a guest appearance as Ari on King of Kensington. Several years later, he named Austin Powers: International Spy of Mystery fictional heroine Vanessa Kensington in honor of the series.
In 1982, Myers graduated from high school and was immediately accepted into the Second City Canadian Touring Company, after he moved to the United Kingdom, where in 1985, he became one of the founding members of The Comedy Store Players, an improvisational group based at The Comedy Store in London.
