Million Dollar Password is a game show that aired on CBS. It is a modern version of the classic game show Password.

As with the original, the game pits two teams--each of a celebrity and a civilian player--in guessing "passwords" from one-word clues. In the main game here, each team has 30 seconds to get up to five words. A maximum of three clues per word is allowed. In the first round, the celebrity gives the clues. In the second round, the regular player gives. The players swap celebrity partners for the next two rounds. The player with the highest score after four rounds is the winner. In case of a tie, the teams play off a single word, using the original Password format.

The player now vies for $1 million, playing with the celebrity with which he/she scored the most points. The player has the option to give clues or receive. The player must get five out of ten words to win $10,000. If successful, he/she may keep the $10,000 and leave or go for more. The next level is a guaranteed minimum of $25,000 by getting five out of nine words. The next level is $50,000 for five out of eight words, then $100,000 for five out of seven, $250,000 for five out of six, and $1 million for five out of five. A player is allowed three clues per word, and any word discarded will not be repeated.

Upon reaching the $250,000 level, the clue giver is shown the five words to be played and may opt to play them or stop where he/she is.
