Plot Overview

The Movie

Two scientists monitor a species of super intelligent ants in a desert laboratory. The ants escape and begin to form a collective hive mind and start taking over, killing anyone they come in contact with. The two scientists rescue a girl from the ants and must find a way to stop them before the ants can conquer the entire world.

The Host Segments

  • Opening Segment - The mad scientists need more cash to continue the experiment, so they sell Joel's car. Joel reveals that he had a ton of money hidden inside the car. In anger, the mad scientists send him Phase IV to watch.
  • Segment One - Joel tells Tom Servo and Crow about Isaac Asimov's robot laws. The bots create some laws of their own.
  • Segment Two - Joel and the bots talk about the first things they would do if they got back to Earth.
  • Segment Three - Joel and the bots play a game of I Spy, and then begin a jam session of "Wipeout."
  • Closing Segment - Joel gets Gypsy and Crow to recite a new robotic law. The law is so long that it is cut off by the end credits.

Notes

  • Phase IV is the directoral debut of Saul Bass, who is primarily known for his credit sequences in films like Psycho.
