Angela, the object of Zack's affection, is played by Renee Griggs. Originally she was just a small character, but as time went on she was given a much larger role. However, Angela disappeared without reason at the start of season two.

Basic Information

Angela is said to be from a higher class upbringing than the rest of the cast-- Zack in particular. Zack didn't mind, however. He was smitten with her the first time he laid eyes on her. Angela, on the other hand, didn't want anything to do with Zack. Each time Zack would shoot a pickup line her way, she'd just shoot him down.

Angela participated in the annual Oddball Games, competing against the ranger teens with Bulk and Skull. After she and her teammates were soaked in mud from the tug of war event, Zack helped her up and she finally agreed to that date he had been pestering at. They decided on a movie, which was interrupted by one of Rita's attacks. Zack left Angela in the theater while he left to "get more popcorn" outside. However, Zack forgot all about Angela sitting in the movie theater alone after the monster was defeated. When he finally returned with the fresh tub of popcorn, Angela proceeded to dump the contents all over his head and storm out.

Zack tried to impress Angela by performing as a magician for the kids at the Juice Bar-- even performing a real life disappearing act when he has to morph into action and fight one of Rita's monsters elsewhere. She later asks him to accompany her to the movies, which he thinks is a date. This turns out to not be the case when he shows up to meet Angela in a suit and tie. Kimberly tries to cover for him when Angela explains that they are chaperoning the children at the movies.

Angela's birthday was coming up and Zack had his mind set on getting her pearl earrings. His only problem is that he didn't know they were so expensive. He finally finds a pair in his price ranger, from a putty patroller in disguise. Zack and Angela then go on a double date with Tommy and Kimberly at a fancy restaurant. Zack gives Angela the pearl earrings and Kimberly enthusiastically encourages her to put them on while Zack and Tommy are out of the room, with Jason, Trini and Billy showing up just too late to stop her. Zack and Tommy return to the whole room frozen, now being the only two rangers able to fight Oysterizer. When the room is unfrozen, Trini points out that Angela's earrings are disintegrating. She immediately dumps them into her water and storms off.

Zack, sorry for what he did, buys Angela a bouquet of flowers and proceeds to sing Angela a song. She admits that she was a bit too materialistic and forgives him. It is then that they share their first kiss as a couple.

Trivia

Angela is the first non-ranger, and second character overall, to celebrate a birthday on the show. The first being her on-again, off-again love interest, Zack.
Angela is the first of three characters to have the same given name. The second being Angela Fairweather, from Lightspeed Rescue and the third being Ethan's date to the senior prom. Ironically, all of the Angela characters have had African-American love interests, however, only the original Angela was African-American herself.
