Quick Draw McGraw was a syndicated animated comedy and was the Hanna-Barbera studio's third television series.

Quick Draw McGraw's name first appeared on a note on a door in an episode of Ruff & Reddy in 1957, and the name was coined for the star of this cartoon, a deputy horse and his burro sidekick Baba Looey. Quick Draw, in spite of his name, was quite inept with his firearms but still managed to bring in his outlaw. Later in the series, he adapted a Zorro-like persona, El Kabong. In this guise, he meted out justice by clobbering his opponents with an acoustic guitar. Quick Draw's main catch phrases were "Hold on thar!" and "I'll do the thinnin' around here, and dooooooon't you forget it!"

Along with Quick Draw were Snooper and Blabber, a cat and mouse detective team (Snooper was patterned after Ed Gardner's character of Archie in the 1940s radio comedy Duffy's Tavern, speaking in the same mix of metaphors and malapropisms); and Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy, a father-and-son comedy starring two bassets (Doggie Daddy's voice and demeanor was based on comedian Jimmy Durante). Of particular note, Snooper and Blabber was originally intended to be a standalone series, but it wound up getting integrated into Quick Draw's show.

In 1963, the show was replayed Saturday mornings on CBS, running to 1966. It returned to syndication, but without the original series' opening titles, interstitials and bumpers. Each cartoon bore its own opening title and credits.

Hanna-Barbera Productions produced the show. Distribution was originally handled by Screen Gems until 1967, then by Taft H-B Program Sales (Hanna-Barbera's original syndication unit), Worldvision Enterprises, Great American Broadcasting, Turner Program Services (following parent Turner Broadcasting's purchase of Hanna-Barbera in 1990) and then Telepictures Distribution (following Telepictures parent Time Warner's acquisition of Turner in 1996). Warner Bros. Television now owns and distributes Quick Draw McGraw.
