Season Three of Red Dwarf premiered on November 14, 1989.
Numerous changes have taken place since the close of season two. Gone is the familiar face and male voice of Holly, who had been portrayed by Norman Lovett. Holly is now female and played by Hattie Hayridge, who portrayed Hilly in the season 2 episode Parallel Universe. Also gone are Holly's humorous, oral prologues at the beginning of each show.
Season three also brings back the character Kryten as a regular, recurring role, although he is now portrayed by a different actor: Robert Llewellyn. Kryten first appeared in the season two episode Kryten.
Lister's pregnancy is tidied up as well. The scrolling prologue for the season premiere, Backwards, explains these changes in full.
