Basic Information
Aunt Linda is a Weekend Update cultural correspondent, introduced by Amy Poehler as her aunt, who reviews movies out in theaters. Like Emily Litella before her, the comedy of Aunt Linda's commentaries come from her cluelessness and obtuseness. However, whereas Litella was humble, even embarrassed when she was proven mistaken, Aunt Linda is surly, irritable and implacable.
Kristen Wiig portrays the character in a granny wig and with a slight Wisconsin accent. She almost invariably pans critically acclaimed movies because she does not understand the point of them. In lieu of a traditional star or thumbs up/down ratings system, she reviews movies with a series of disgusted facial expressions and interjections of contempt, including "Come on," "Oh, brother!" and "Aw, geez!"
Aunt Linda often abhors all but the most unwatchably ludicrous audience-pleasers, such as The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
