Plot Overview

When archaeologists exploring a Mayan pyramid in Mexico find a sarcophagus covered in Egyptian hieroglyphics, they accidentally release Hathor. Hathor is a Goa'uld who has taken on the persona of a powerful Egyptian goddess, awoken from a sleep that has lasted a millennium. After dispensing with the scientists, Hathor makes her way to the Stargate mountain facility dressed as a homeless woman. Once inside, she uses her physical charms and a drug-like pink smoke to seduce the men and enlist them in her plan to take over the world - - using O'Neill as her first Jaffa. As the goddess cooks up thousands of Goa'uld larvae and prepares O'Neill to bear one, it falls to Carter and the handful of women at the base to fight back against the powerful seductress. Aided by Teal'c, who as a Jaffa is immune to her powers, they prepare to face Hathor in a battle for the future of the planet.

• Hathor, we find was the wife of Ra. And therefore a Queen of the Goa'uld.

• Like Apophis and Amonet, Ra and Hathor also had a 'son' : Heru-ur.

• We find out how the 'X'-shaped entrance to the larval womb in the Jaffa is created in this episode.

Allusions and References

• Hathor:

The feminine goddess par excellence in ancient Egypt, Hathor was a pre-Dynastic goddess who gained enormous popularity early on. Her name is translated as "the House of Horus", which may be a reference to her as the embodiment of the sky in her role of the Celestial Cow, being that which surrounds the decidedly sky-oriented hawk-deity, Horus, when he takes wing. If Horus was the god associated with the living king, Hathor was the god associated with the living queen.
