Talk:Friday Night Death Slot

From The TV IV

Codswallop, The Invisible Man went two seasons (mostly) at Fridays at 8:00, and Farscape was Fridays at 8 or 9 for as long as it was on. Though I guess for big network shows it's death on swift wings. Cool article. --Wraith 00:11, 14 Aug 2005 (PDT)

Both The Invisible Man and Farscape were Scifi channel shows, and Scifi's Friday lineup is generally considered to be extremely successful. The thing is, ratings that Scifi Channel considers to be astronomical would be considered pretty bad by any major network because Scifi doesn't have anywhere near as large of a viewer base as CBS or ABC or even FOX just by virtue of being a cable channel.

For example, Star Trek: Enterprise's "terrible" ratings were pretty much equivalent to a good show on Scifi - it had a seasonal average of 3.1 million viewers a week in its final season and UPN considered that to be absolutely abysmal and shitcanned it, while Scifi's Battlestar Galactica (2003), with 2 to 3 million viewers a week, was beating the shit out of everything else in Scifi's lineup and there was very little question as to whether it would be picked up for a second season. --Hawkman 08:11, 14 Aug 2005 (PDT)
