The role of Nick DePalma was to originally have been played by Tony Clifton, a lounge singer friend of Andy Kaufman's (actually it was one of Kaufman's alter egos). When Clifton's behavior held up production, he was 'fired' and replaced by character actor Richard Foronjy.
