Trivia

The Show

  • In the scenes with Le Blanc in jail, Punk Rocket from The Lost Episode can be seen in the background -- despite his presence in the lineup at the end of Homecoming pt. 2.

Behind the Scenes

Allusions and References

  • The scene where Control Freak was seen sitting at the keyboard with several monitors as well as the animation on them is a tribute to the movie The Matrix. This animated text scrolling sequence can be seen in various spots as backdrops to Control Freak on various display devices seen in the show.
  • In reference to the growing usage of chatroom acronyms, the terms IMHO and LOL (In My Humble Opinion and Laughs Out Loud respectively) were used when chatters respond to Control Freak.
  • When Control Freak responded to Speedy's question of "Who is this guy?", he takes out his dual twin light sabers (a Star Wars reference, if you haven't noticed) and begins showing off his moves with it. This is a joking reference to the infamous Star Wars Kid video that was leaked into the internet.
  • The sequence where Control Freak names off the Teen Titans (West) members plays off the fandom of costume playing, or cosplay for short, where he dresses up as each member of the Teen Titans, including Starfire. As a related reference to this fandom, Aqualad calls Control Freak a "fanboy."
  • Control Freak's battle suit is designed like a plastic toy; it has a screw-on battery compartment cover and is activated by a small, stubby switch in back.
  • Control Freak refers to Starfire as an "Alien powerhouse". This is the title of the Starfire-themed TT coloring book issued by Scholastic Paperbacks.
