Plot Overview

While Max hides the dynamite in his truck, Kate, Ginny and Reena prepare the food for the barn dance. Then Max enters and tells Reena he has invited Justin and Ashley to the dance. Ashley is against going but Justin wants to. Jeb and Lurlene are visited by Lacy. At the diner, Jeannie tells Helen that Gus called and will probably visit today. Lacy offers to help with preparations but Jeb snubs her a bit. Max tells Reena that this dance is a new beginning for everyone. Ashley is against Justin announcing their engagement at the barn dance and then Justin also asks Ashley to find out why Ryan wants to talk to Max when he gets back from Galveston. As the barn dance starts Striker and Vicky arrive as do Jeb and Lurlene and all have a good time. Lurlene tells Jeb that she is going to play the field for awhile and Reena tells Vicky of Justin and Ashley coming and of her fear that something terrible is going to happen. Elena tells Joe that Gus is coming to the diner. Justin and Ashley arrive as do Buddy and Wanda Coleman. Lurlene dances with Caleb while Jeb and Lacy decide to start over again. Elena tells Joe of the plan for her to have dinner with Gus while Joe searches his place and then Gus arrives. As a square dance goes on Lurlene kisses Caleb on the cheek in the hayloft. Helen gets Gus to take her out. Max and Reena dance and say the line "Grow old along with me. The best is yet to be." Max tells Vicky he wants to take Reena down to Acapulco next weekend as a surprise. Justin tries to tell Kate about his engagement to Ashley but she shuns him. Grant arrives and is not to happy to see Lacy and Jeb dancing. Joe waits for Elena as Jeannie uses the phone. Grant questions Reena about Jeb and then asks Lacy to come home but she tells him she doesn't want to. When Grant leaves Lacy tells Jeb she better go. Max asks Ginny to always look out for Reena and then Max and Reena dance again until a man cuts in. At that point Max leaves the barn dance. Jeannie gets off the phone and Joe waits for Elena to call. Gus takes Helen to his new apartment instead of to a restaurant. Reena asks Ginny if she has seen Max. Max, by the oil well, gets out the dynamite and some wire.
