Race Overview

The racers depart from Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Denver, Colorado. They travel to São Paulo, Brazil where they visit a hotel and a bridge. The wrong choice on the detour puts some teams back while a poor choice in taxis hurts others. At the pit stop, a local soccer stadium, Eric & Jeremy come in first while John & Scott are the first team to be eliminated.

    • The teams travel one mile to a motorcycle shop on Rua Guaianazes, choose a motorcycle frame and attempt to build a working motorcycle with only other completed motorcycles as a guide. Once an employee of the shop can kick start the motorcycle the team will receive their clues.
      • Danielle & Dani, Fran & Barry, Lake & Michelle, and Ray & Yolanda choose this option.
        • Danielle & Dani and Fran & Barry switch detours.
  • Rotor Head
    • The teams travel three miles to Campo de Marte Airport and locate one of four buildings in a flight directory. Once they have located a building they fly out to the building and follow a marked path to their next clue.
      • Eric & Jeremy, BJ & Tyler, Wanda & Desiree, David & Lori, Joseph & Monica, Fran & Barry, Danielle & Dani, Lisa & Joni and John & Scott choose this option.
        • Eric & Jeremy, BJ & Tyler and Fran & Barry go to Edificio São Luis Gonzaga, 2 nautical miles from the airport.
        • Dave & Lori, Joseph & Monica, Danielle & Dani and Lisa & Joni go to Atrium V, 5 nautical miles from the airport.
        • Wanda & Desiree and John & Scott go to Hotel Meliá, 6 nautical miles from the airport.
    • The teams travel to the neighborhood of Santa Cecilia and find a warehouse where they witness a traditional Candomblé ceremony and light a candle.
