Plot Overview
New National Register publisher Pat Steinhauer, the daughter of the paper's founder, orders McGee removed from following the Hulk story and tells him not to continue pursuing it, telling McGee that he has an obsession with the Hulk similar to alcoholism while noting that she herself does not believe the Hulk exists, despite the scores of eyewitness accounts obtained from others by McGee and his own witnessing of the creature on several occasions. After an argument with Pat at the Register office one night, McGee gets a call from Gary, Indiana about a Hulk sighting and decides to pursue that lead on his own. After finding out about McGee's plans, Pat decides to fly out with him to Gary, where they spot the Hulk at a foundry and Pat is finally convinced about the Hulk's existence.
