The Tick (1994–96) is an animated superhero comedy that aired on the Fox Kids block on FOX. It is based on the comic book character The Tick created by Ben Edlund, who also co-produced and co-wrote the series. It features The Tick, a big, blue, nigh-invincible superhero who, with his sidekick Arthur, protects The City. As with the comic, it plays with, and sometimes parodies, the standard superhero genre. This includes characters which are direct parodies of others, such as Big Shot being a parody of Marvel Comics' Punisher.
