Trivia

The Show

  • Coincidently, series star Lauren Cohan and guest star Jeffrey Dean Morgan appear as Thomas and Martha Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which came out only a couple of weeks before this episode aired.
  • While this episode does mark the death of a main character, for the first time in the series run, the identity is left in question. However, like with many previous episodes with major character deaths, the closing credits are absent of music.

Behind the Scenes

  • During filming, Nicotero shot what he called "fuck takes", which were alternate shots of Negan using the word "fuck" so that an alternate version could be made with these. While this isn't the first time an episode was made with such an alternate take, unlike like "A" and "Knots Untie", which featured only a single utterance of the word, the TV version is the default on DVD and BluRay with the uncensored version available only as a BluRay bonus feature.

Quotes

  • Eugene: These tracks - they would indicate they not only have people, but some big-ass toys and capabilities.
Abraham: What it indicates is we are neck-deep up shit creek with our mouths wide open.
  • Negan: Pissing our pants yet? Oh, boy, do I have a feeling we're getting close. Yep. It's gonna be pee-pee pants city here real soon.
  • Negan: Hi. You're Rick, right? I'm Negan. And I do not appreciate you killing my men. Also, when I sent my people to kill your people for killing my people, you killed more of my people. Not cool. Not fucking cool. You have no fucking idea how not fucking cool that shit is. But I think you're gonna be up to speed here shortly. Yeah. You are so gonna regret crossing me in a few minutes. Fuck yeah, you are. You see, Rick, whatever you do, no matter fucking what, you do not mess with the new world order and the new world order is this - and it's really very simple, even if you're fucking stupid, which you very may well be, you can understand it. You ready? Here it goes. Pay attention. Give me your shit or I will kill you.
  • Negan: You don't really think that you were gonna get through this without being punished, now, did you? I don't want to kill you people. Just want to make that clear from the get-go. I want you to work for me and you can't do that if you're fucking dead, now, can you? I'm not growing a garden. But you killed my people, a whole fucking damn shitload of them. More than I'm comfortable with. And for that - well, for that you gotta fucking pay. So, now... I am gonna beat the holy fuck, fucking, fuckity-fuck outta one of you. This - (holds up a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire) This is Lucille and she... is... awesome.
  • Negan: (to Rick) Sucks, don't it? The moment you realise you don't know shit.
  • Negan: Anybody moves, anybody says anything, cut the boy's other eye out and feed it to his father and then we'll start. You can breathe, you can blink, you can cry. Hell, you're all gonna be doing that. (swings Lucille down) Ho! Ho, ho! Look at that. Taking it like a champ! (swings down two more times) Damn! (the screen goes black as Negan delivers five more blows)
