Basic Information
John Dogget, born April 4, 1960, began his career in law enforcement with the New York Police Department. Previous to this he was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps Amphibious Unit, during which he was deployed as part of the multilateral peacekeeping efforts in Lebanon. During his time with the NYPD, Doggett's only son Luke was abducted and was eventually found murdered. Doggett investigated his son's abduction with Special Agent Monica Reyes of the FBI but the killer was never apprehended. Soon after the death of his son, John Doggett's marriage to Barbara Doggett ended in divorce.
After reaching the rank of Detective in the Fugitive Warrants Department of the NYPD, Doggett applied to and was accepted by the FBI. He attended the FBI academy and graduated in 1995. Five years later while in the Criminal Investigations Division, John Doggett was assigned by Assistant Director Kersh to the lead the manhunt for the missing Agent Mulder. Mulder was found later that year in a clearing outside of Helena, Montana.
John Doggett holds both a Masters Degree and PhD in Public Administration.
