Plot Overview

Tamsin's firm is in uproar after the leak of confidential information to Jeremy, who refuses to reveal his source in court. Ken suspects Tamsin and when the police investigate the case he thinks he has proof that she is the culprit. However, Sam comes to Syndey to save Tamsin. Her boss advises her to blame her secretary, who has already agreed to confess in exchange for a substantial payoff. Tamsin is fired and the affair is swept under the rug.

Lizzie meets her sister Charity who cheerily adds to the family pressure for Lizzie to have children. Lizzie lies that she has a new guy and Charity promptly wants to meet him. Although he initially refuses, Ned eventually agrees to play the boyfriend for Lizzie. Charity recognizes him as the hunk from the soap opera and is duly impressed. She wants to stay the night over at Lizzie's, forcing Lizzie and Ned to keep acting as a couple and sleep in the same bed.

Notes

Happenings

  • Annabel has received a letter from Olive, revealing Jeremy's affair. Meanwhile the adoption agency has granted Annabel and Jeremy's request; they will adopt a two-year old from Thailand. Annabel makes it clear to Jeremy that their marriage is over, but they still have to pretend for a year after the adoption.
  • Callum and Charlie accidentally run into a Chinese couple who turn out to be Charlie's future parents-in-law. He is going to marry—a woman. Callum later goes to Charlie's place, where he meets Charlie's parents and fiancée.

Characters

  • Tamsin wants to be her old self again, and decides to return with Sam to England and marry him as soon as possible.
  • Nic is back together with Flick and, after a slow start, eventually makes a significant contribution at work. When Tamsin returns to London, he is emotionally upset on seeing her again.
  • Ned wants to give up acting altogether, but his agent gives him a pep talk that there is a market for lesser actors, too, and hands him an offer for panto.
  • Lydia is insecure about Magnus' feelings for her because she thinks she doesn't have the body of a young woman any longer. She finally gets over her doubt and seduces him.

Trivia

Allusions and References

  • One Man and His Dog: The series Nic most likely has in mind is the BBC's One Man and His Dog, which aired from 1976 to 1999 with occasional specials afterwards.
Nic: You've even got shows on TV about sheepdog trials.

Quotes

  • James: I would like you to hear my side of the story.
Ned: Mom's explained already. I'm the accidental love child of her and a bowl of hallucinogenic punch.
  • Ken (to Tamsin): Where I come from, people have some professional integrity.
Callum: Hey! Where I come from, we reckon if you twist a man's balls six times to the left, they'll come right off in your 'ands.
