In-Depth
- Starting this season, Charlie opens the show with "From the Sony Pictures Studios...".
- This was the last season with the turning letter puzzle board.
- A video display was added at the center of the stage.
- The red, yellow and blue backdrops behind the contestants were used on-again/off-again this season. By the end of the season, they were retired altogether.
- Starting this season, Charlie no longer read all fee plugs at the end of the show. He would read three or four. But little commercials would be put in place for the rest. As the season progressed, he would only read one or two.
- This was the last season with the wheel spinning automatically during the opening and closing credits.
- The second round became the Jackpot round.
- The Lose-A-Turn space on the wheel was changed from yellow to white.
- The $750 and $1,500 spaces on the wheel were retired.
- In February 1997, they got a new high-tech puzzle board they used today where Vanna touches the letters instead of turning the letters.
