Plot Overview

Stay-at-home mother Michelle Pyke believes in indulging her three sons: 14-year-old Bradley, 11-year-old Hunter and 4-year-old Oakley. Her husband, Rick owns and operates the only funeral parlor & crematorium in town, and is always on call, leaving him no time to spend with his family; even quality time for the boys with their dad is visiting him at the funeral home. Michelle pampers herself at the local salon & spa and consoles herself by going shopping. The house is messy and the boys are allowed to eat anything they want, especially junk food.

Michelle swaps lives with Lynn Smith, who lives in a converted Greyhound bus with her husband, Andre and two daughters: 14-year-old Gillian and 12-year-old Talia; after Lynn quit her job as a successful real estate broker (at Andre's insistence), selling their home in Florida and taking their kids out of school, the Smiths have spent the past two-in-a-half years traveling cross-country so they can follow along on Andre's midlife crisis-fantasy of living a mortgage-free existence without ties or having any obligations. In order to support the bus, the family has to scrimp and economize on everything. With Lynn home-schooling Talia and Gillian, the girls have no opportunities to socialize and make friends with other kids.
