Plot Overview
This episode begins with children playing,and singing a song honoring Zorro.The Citizens as well as the Commandant,his wife,and the Magistrato are just coming out of the Church.There is an unfamiliar face present also.It is a seemingly blindbeggar.He is standing outside the Church when the Magistrato puts a note in his sombraro.While the children are still singing the honor song about Zorro,Captain Toladano orders Sergeant Garcia to tell the children to cease singing the song.Bernardo notices the blind beggar as a new face at the Pueblo,and brings attention to Diego about it.Bernardo would soon enough notice that the beggar is holding out his sombraro to one of the Guards(another new face )at the Pueblo.The Guard whose name is Figueroa takes the note,and pretends to be indignant at the beggar for asking him for a contribution.Bernardo will report this to Diego later on.Soon,Diego,his Father,Captain Toladano,and some of the leading Citizens are present at a meeting called by the Magistrato to discuss a contest for a Horse Race,and a Monetary Prize.After some more discussion on the Topic,some of the Citizens,as well as some of the Guards will enter the Contest for the purpose of winning the Prize Money.The Dela Vega Servant will enter Don Alexandro Horse.Diego becomes suspicious of the Contest especially since the Magistrato will be the one holding the purse of $50,000.00 Pesos.What could the Magistrato be planning?This question,and the question concerning the blind beggar will soon be answered.Bernardo relates to Diego that the blind beggar is not really blind,but can see as well as Bernardo can hear.Diego dons his Zorro Costume,and sneaksinto the Quartel.He sees the Beggar pulldown his dark glasses,and looking around,conforming that he can see.The Beggar is heading to a secret meeting place arranged by the Magistrato.The Magistrato has called the meeting with several of his henchmen to discuss the real purpose of the the big Horse Race.Figuerora is also present ata the meeting.The Beggar will keep watch outside making sure that they are not surprised.The purpose of the meeting is to steal the Gunpowder from the Pueblo.While most of the Guards will be at Race,Figueroa will let the thieves enter the Quartel.Having listened to this Zorro now knows the true purpose of the Race.He will have Bernardo sneak a message to Sergeant Garcia who will in turn give the message to Captain Toladano.But,as fate has it,Sergeant Garcia loses the Message which was concealed in an envelope.Thereby the Commandant would not receive the message.When the commandant shows up for the Big Race,Diego is surprised.He leaves dons on his Zorro Costume,and lead Captain Toladano to the Quartel.No sooner had the Race started than Zorro rides in to the Race.Just as he hoped also,Captain Toladano,and his Lancers(who were also in the Race)pursue Zorro.The latter leads themto the Quartel.After leaving his mark,Zorro shows Captain Toladano the stolen Gunpowder in which the two thieves who were riding out of the Quartel had in the back of their Wagon.Having been caught,the two men attempted to escape.They are caught by Sergeant Garcia.These men willbe held for questining.As for the Race,Don Alexandros Horse wins.Everybody is happy,except the Magistrato,and his current henchman.
