Happenings
- The Sloane doppelganger is caught and revealed to be Ned Bolger. He believes he's Sloane due to a SD-6 program that explored experimental technologies for interrogation, including transferring of memory. McCullough, who evaded capture when SD-6 was raided, continued the work, but kills himself before he can give up his employer.
- The real Sloane confesses that he used Omnifam to contaminate the drinking water of 400 million people worldwide as the first phase of creating a more peaceful species of human by breeding the aggression out of them. The second phase, based on Rambaldi's teachings, was to introduce an extinct orchid's nectar into the water supply. His attempts at replicating the formula failed without the nectar. As Sloane, Bogler stole the extinct orchid mentioned in Rambaldi's Vespertine paper. He breaks free from his Sloane persona to reveal the orchid's location.
Characters
- Jacquelyn was the child Sloane and Emily had, but died shortly after birth. Sloane reveals that he became obsessed with Rambaldi shortly thereafter to fill the hole in his heart.
