Happenings

  • Needing every possible pilot to defend the fleet, Anders suits up and pilots a Viper. During the battle, a Raider turns and scans his eye at which point it and the other Raiders retreat.
  • The ship Pyxis is destroyed, which accounts for the loss of 600 lives. Another ship is hit, but sustains repairable damage.
  • Kara took photos of Earth with the star patterns match what was seen in the Tomb of Athena with its moon and star matching descriptions in Pythia. Roslin insists on going on their current trajectory. However, with every jump Kara's clarity dissipates.
  • Between finding Earth and returning to the fleet, Kara remembers seeing a giant gas planet with rings as well as a flashing triple star and a comet.
  • When one of the female followers notes she feels empty when she prays to the gods, Number Six urges Baltar to tell her that's because they're false. He does and adds that there's only one God.
  • Roslin goes to visit Caprica-Six to know if Kara is one of the Final Five. She reveals that was programmed to not think about them, but can feel that they're near.

Characters

  • Tigh is fearful that he might programmed to behave against his will. He puts a gun on the table to make clear that what the other three agree to if that happens.
  • Baltar is ushered to an unused compartment by the women who rescued him and appear to revere him. Jeanne later brings in her ill son. Baltar later prays that God spares him and instead take him. When Connor puts a razor to his throat, Number Six asks Baltar if he meant what he said. He says yes and urges Connor to kill him before Paula Schaffer knocks saves him. When they return to the compartment, they find Jeanne's son has made a miraculous recovery.
  • Kara's last memory was of going into the storm to chase a Heavy Raider, passing out and waking up orbiting Earth. After taking the photos, she turned around before waking up back in the fleet. Everyone assumes she is a Cylon or a Cylon trick to the point where even she begins to speculate. Sam assures her that he would still love her if she were a Cylon, but she does not reciprocate the sentiment.
  • Roslin is staying in Adam's quarters as she undergoes Doloxan treatment.
  • Adama offers Lee back his pins, but while Lee admits he took them off for the wrong reason, it was inevitable. He's had a feeling for government and there's a position opening up.
  • Desperate to keep from losing the path she feels is the direction of Earth, Kara goes to Adama's quarters with a gun and takes aim at Roslin.

Allusions and References

  • The title of this episode is Biblical reference. Taken from John 11:25-26 of the King James version of the Bible: Jesus said unto her, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"

Memorable Moments

Goofs

  • Although clean, Kara's Viper has standard text on it even though when she returned at the very end of the previous episode, it was blank.
  • Seelix's hair is different - a little longer and perhaps even darker - than it was when we last saw her in "Crossroads", part 2, which took place less than a few days ago.

Quotes

  • Tigh: They had us. Game over. Why the hell did they let us go?
Tory: Maybe something's changed.
Roslin: Like what?
Tigh: I have no idea, Madam President. No idea.
  • Adama: (referring to Kara's return) What should I believe? Should I believe my heart or my eyes?
  • Lee: Dad, what if Zak had come back to us in that Viper? If my brother had climbed out of that cockpit, would it matter if he were a Cylon? If he always had been? When all's said and done, would that change how we really feel about him?
  • Baltar: Please, God. I'm only asking you this one last time. Don't let this child die. Has he sinned against you? He can't have sinned against you. He's not even had a life yet. How can you take him and let me live? After all I've done. Really, if you want someone to suffer, take me. We both know I deserve it. I have been selfish and weak. I have failed so many people. And I have killed. I'm not asking for your forgiveness, I'm just asking that you spare the life of this innocent child. Don't take him. Take me. Take me, take me, please.
  • Paulla Schaffer: You see? Gaius, I knew God wouldn't desert you. I mean, I felt His love course through me, giving me the strength to smite them.
Baltar: A little less smiting next time unless you want to be held up on murder charges.
  • Anders: If you were a Cylon, then you've been one from the beginning.
Kara: Like Boomer. Spend my entire life thinking I'm one thing.
Anders: And then you wake up one day, and discover you're another. Still doesn't change who you really are. Still doesn't change the fact that I love you no matter what.
Kara: You are a better person than I am, Sam, because if I found out that you were a Cylon, I would put a bullet between your eyes.
