Plot Overview
While running away from Ichigo's closet, Rukia resolves that if she is to return to the soul society, she needs to move on and put an end to the emotions of affection and friendship that she's come to accept into her life. While lost in thought, one of the soul society hunters, Renji Abarai, comes down on her with his sword drawn. He inquires where the human who took her power is and explains once again that what she did is an unspeakable offense. He demands to know where Ichigo is so that they can take her in and kill him. When she doesn't give up the information he seeks, Renji attacks until they're interrupted by Uryu.
Back at home, Ichigo discovers Kon duct taped behind the toilet. Kon tells him that Rukia is in trouble and points out her farewell note left for him. The note tells Ichigo to lay low and burn her letter so that they'll be safe from the soul society. He, naturally, goes completely against her wishes and allows Urahara, who suddenly appeared in his window, to pop his soul out with his cane so that he can try to save her.
Ichigo shows up on the bridge in time to save Uryu from being killed by Renji. Renji quickly realizes that Ichigo is the one who took Rukya's powers and attacks him. Ichigo, no match whatsoever for Renji, is quickly taken down by Renji, who considers his inability to lay a scratch on him to be laughable. During his posturing, Ichigo gets a hit in and Byakuya warns him against underestimating the man who sent Menos Grande into the void. Renji displays the released form of his zanpakuto, Zabimaru, and deals an apparently fatal blow to Ichigo.
