Plot Overview
A friendly family of vampires, the Belaskos, move into a sleepy neighborhood for a fresh start, in spite of the fact that people all around them are prejudiced for their undead natures. The daughter, Anna, soon takes a liking to Alex, the boy next door whose father is a violent bigot who hates vampires after one of them killed his wife. When the two plan to run away together someplace where it's always dark, Alex's dad takes matters into his own hands.
Notes
Trivia
The Show
- The timelapse footage of a sunrise Anna watches while "tanning" is reused from The Hat.
- The ashtray from "Father's Day" can be seen on the Belaskos' kitchen counter as they have breakfast, along with a box of vampire cereal from the supermarket in The Parent Deathtrap.
- The syrup that the family pours on their pancakes is named "Aunt Bedelia's Blood Red Syrup", after the old spinster who used the ashtray to kill her overbearing father.
- Much like Sibling Rivalry, the last episode to involve vampires, Doug tells Anna to hold still so she can die by his crossbow.
- Chuck and Helena tell Doug that they teach night courses at Horlicks University, the college featured in "The Crate".
- One of Doug's fellow vampire hunters wears Vince's hat from the segment "Old Chief Wood'nhead" from Creepshow 2, and much like Vince himself, he dies by getting stabbed through the forehead.

Allusions and References
- The Belasko family name is derived from the birth name of Bela Lugosi, who is synonymous with vampires.
- Doug flashing back to his wife becoming a vampire and levitating outside the window amidst heavy fog is borrowed from 'Salems' Lot.
- The Belaskos drink a canned blood orange drink known as "Fang" with their nightly breakfast, after the orange drink mix "Tang".
- The forbidden human-vampire romance Alex and Anna develop is a clear reference to both Romeo and Juliet and the Twilight saga.
- The idea of vampires going about their business in a world run by the living also references What We Do in the Shadows.
- A sign in front of the Belaskos' house shows that it was sold by Stoker Realty, after the author of the original Dracula.
- Anna is able to transform into a bat-like monster by spinning in place, similar to the female vampires from the 2004 film Van Helsing.
- When they make plans for running away, Anna suggests that she and Alex move to Alaska because of the long periods of darkness, a reference to 30 Days of Night.
- The hospital Anna brings Alex to at the end is named St. Stephen's, after Stephen King.
