Plot Overview

Dominic causes controversy when he makes comments about suggesting a red-light district in the wake of 28 missing prostitutes. A 29th body is connected to a young girl who recently joins an escort service, and has two people on the streets trying to find her.

Meanwhile, Mick and Kosmo investigate the death of a man found in the bathroom of a foreign diplomat who's trying to avoid the implication of a homosexual engagement.

Notes

Arc Advancement

Happenings

  • A councilman from Amsterdam attending the Society of Nations' convention on prostitution has a male prostitute die in his shower, but his lawyer wants to keep the incident discreet. He later confesses that he did pick the man up with the intent to have sex. It's later determined that he suffered an anaphylaxis shock from penicillin he took, either unaware he took it or what the consequences would be.
  • Dominic is quoted in a newspaper in favour of a red-light district.
  • 28 prostitutes have wound up being murdered with the latest victim being a schoolteacher posing as a prostitute asking around for her daughter Madeline and appeared to be in a relationship with Detective Bob Marlowe.
  • Madeline is working for an escort agency.
  • Patricia asks Sunny if she can do a cardiac exam on the body as part of ongoing muscle research on traumatic death.
  • The murder matches a similar case that led to the arrest of a cab driver named Vincent Marx. Sgt Regan interviewed him at the time and believed him to be guilty. Leo interviews him to see if he told anybody of his M.O., but Marx, whose asserted his innocent, claims there's no one he could have talked to in prison.
  • A prostitute named Rae contacts the police as an eyewitness. She later IDs the owner of the car she took the license plate numbers from.

Characters

  • Mick and Sunny are still seeing each other.
  • Gabriella bemoans living with her mother and wants to stay with Dominic full-time, which he agrees to.
  • Mick asks Leo if knows a good divorce lawyer.

Referbacks

  • Flynn mentions the Charlie Josephs case.
  • Helen asks Gabriella about Keith, the boy she was sleeping with "The Most Dangerous Time", but she doesn't seem to even recall him.

Quotes

  • Bigler's Lawyer: I'm concerned what the press may imply in the relationship.
Dominic: So, you don't mind if it's implied your client killed somebody, as long as it's not implied that he's gay.
  • Leo: You know, if it was 29 anything but hookers getting offed, there's be some action.
Flynn: We don't have 29 bodies, Leo. We have one.
Dominic: 29 blue-haired sweethearts from Kerrisdale had have gone missing, what would have happened?
Leo: There'd be a blue-ribbon task force working 24/7.
  • Gabriella: I'm just giving you the heads-up. Mom's mad because, uh, you said that I didn't have to go to college
Dominic: No. No, that's not what I said. That is a misquote. You know what? You ought to be in journalism school because you're halfway there already.
