Basic Information

Serenity's 'public relations' man, Jayne Cobb appears at first glance (and, truth be told, probably second and third too) to be your average heavy, employed by Mal as simple muscle. Jayne is the quintessential mercenary, having betrayed his previous employer after realizing that Mal and Zoe would pay him more, give him his own personal sleeping quarters (as opposed to his previous condition sharing a bunk with an ugly, smelly fellow mercenary).

However, Jayne also exhibits a caring side (albeit infrequently) in situations such as when Kaylee was shot by an undercover Fed who was hunting Simon and River Tam, where he was seen at least as upset by what had happened to Kaylee as anyone else, and later exhibited an emotional side when a mudder from Canton took a bullet for him.
