Great Detectives

From The TV IV
Jump to: navigation, search

Great Detectives (1972) is a proposed series developed by Universal TV for ABC. It was a reaction to the success of The NBC Sunday Mystery Movie (which included Columbo and McCloud), which had itself been a reaction to the success of the ABC Movie of the Week. Had the series sold, it would have been an anthology series featuring adaptations of literary adventures of such classic detective characters as Sherlock Holmes and Nick Carter. Three TV movies intended as pilots aired, two (Hound of the Baskervilles and A Very Missing Person) as part of the ABC Movie of the Week banner.
