Spinoff series from Friends. Joey follows the character Joey Tribbiani as he moves from New York to Los Angeles to continue to pursue his acting career and live closer to his sister Gina and his nephew Michael
All episode titles begin with the words "Joey and the..." Similarly, all episodes of Friends begin with the words "The One..."
Kevin S. Bright is the only one of the three creators of Friends that has moved on to work on Joey. Marta Kauffman and David Crane have not continued to work on Joey, but are credited for creating the character of Joey.
Joey is filmed on the same sound stage which Friends was filmed (Soundstage 24 at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, CA).
Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Joey's agent Bobbie, guest starred on Friends, playing a different character: Amanda Buffamonteezi, an old college friend of Monica and Phoebe in The One with Ross's Tan.
