Plot Overview
The victim is a young socialite. The killer is a security guard. She's found dead from a drug overdose, despite the fact that she had been attending meetings for addicts. Angie is no longer working homicide--in the wake of the scandal with Cross, she decided to transfer to recruiting, where she is terribly bored. Cross is still the Staff Sergeant in charge of the unit, but Lucas has now been named lead detective. When the case gets too puzzling, Cross enlists Angie's help. The addict meetings, where both victim and killer were in attendance, play a major role in the investigation. Oscar is stunned to find out that his estranged Dad also is an attendee at the meetings and was involved with the dead girl, which leads to him being briefly considered as a suspect. After the killer, Derek Caster, is caught and held in jail, he himself is found stabbed to death, and Angie's certain that the dead girl's powerful father, Neville Montgomery, arranged the murder.
