Marta is a gypsy, servant, guardian, and mentor to Tessa Alvarado, the Queen of Swords and is played by Paulina Gálvez.

Basic Information

When Tessa was sent to Madrid at the age of seven to live with her aunt, uncle and three cousins, and complete her education, Marta was employed to look after her.

Character History

• Her gypsy background gives her insight by using Tarot cards to interpret the future. (Ep1)

• By touching Dr. Helm's hand she senses his troubled past. (Ep 2)

• She is curt and brutally honest with Tessa, who as The Queen, kills. (Ep5)

• She is propositioned by The Emissary when he takes over Tessa's hacienda. (Ep 12)

• Marta's love for Tessa is demonstrated against The Hanged Man. (Ep16)

• When Tessa was 11 years old, Marta met and a year later gave up her love, Leonardo, but he turns up in Santa Helena, determined to take her away. Leonardo is accused of murder and he and Marta end up on the run.(Ep 17)
