The Witness is the fifth episode of the first season of Queen of Swords, and the fifth episode overall.

Plot Overview

Tessa witnesses a shooting of a peasant girl. The son of a retired sea captain Mary Rose, now a rancher, is arrested. Mary Rose is determined that Tessa will not testify, but equally determined is the girl's brothers that she does. Montoya sees an opportunity to gain the lands of either or both of Tessa and Mary Rose. Seeking the truth, only Vera seems to know what happened but is reluctant to come forward.

Tessa has no love in her life except for the unwanted attention of Captain Grisham.

Trivia

Behind the Scenes

When Vera rides to see Tessa she is using a side saddle, as young ladies of refinement would. Tessie Santiago being a novice rider would mostly be seen using a wagon which she became quite proficient in handling. As The Queen, Tessie Santiago would ride Chico which was the friendliest of the three horses used. Her Queens costume also made getting on and off a horse very difficult. Her stunt doubles generaly rode Champion and Escalano and their costumes allowed more freedom of movement.

Richard Cruz (Geraldo) is the horse stunt cordinator for the series.
