Matt Flannery is a FBI special agent assigned to the Los Angeles field office as a senior negotiator in the Critical Incident Response Group and is specifically a member of the Crisis Negotiation Unit. Flannery is partnered with Emily Lehman, with whom he shares a romantic relationship. He is portrayed on television by Ron Livingston.

Basic Information
Flannery was born in Van Nuys, California and received a B.S. in General Studies from the University of California (Santa Barbara). After college, Flannery joined the Simi Valley Police Department where he worked his way to become a detective specializing in violent crimes. During his tenure with the SVPD, Flannery worked as a crisis negotiator in the Special Operations Unit.
Flannery's work with the SVPD let him to attend the FBI Academy. With the FBI, Flannery attended the Safe Streets Survival Course and received several certifications, including FBI National Certification and FBI Crime Scene Analysis Certification.
Flannery has been commended for his police work on at least two separate occasions, once with the SVPD when he was awarded the Medal of Valor Award for heroic action under fire. He later was awarded the Director Incentive Award while with the FBI.
